World Cup 2022 World Cup Results Qatar vs Senegal: Score 1-3
Senegal successfully defeated Qatar in matchday 2 of Group A for the 2022 World Cup at Al Thumama Stadium, Friday (25/11/2022) evening WIB.
Qatar is trying to bounce back from its defeat against Ecuador. They performed better than their first match and provided fierce resistance, but it was clear that their class was still below Senegal.
Qatar's goal was scored by Mohammed Muntari. Meanwhile, Senegal's goals were produced by Boulaye Dia, Famara Diedhiou and Bamba Dieng.
This victory made Senegal collect three points from two matches, but they are still in third place in Group A for the 2022 World Cup. Meanwhile, Qatar is at the bottom of the standings.
Qatar now has to wait for the results of the Netherlands vs Ecuador match. If the Oranje avoid defeat then they will certainly be the first team to be eliminated from the 2022 World Cup.
First round
Senegal immediately tried to appear to attack from the start. They dominate possession too. But they did not just attack Qatar's defenses. They build attacks patiently.
In the 10th minute, Senegal finally got a good chance from Nampalys Mendy's shot. But the ball kick wide of the target. Six minutes later they threatened again, this time from Diatta who cut in from the left. However, the ball shot was still blocked by Qatar goalkeeper, Bersham.
Qatar also does not continue to survive. They occasionally attempted to counterattack. Their efforts almost succeeded in the 34th minute. Afif successfully entered the Senegalese penalty box and when he was about to shoot, he fell after being pushed by a Senegalese player. The Qatari players asked for a penalty but the referee did not consider a violation.
Qatar's defense finally collapsed too. In the 41st minute, Boualem Khoukhi failed to throw a diagonal cross ball from the left wing into the penalty box perfectly. The wild ball was finally immediately struck by Boulaye Dia's hard kick. 0-1!
The referee gave up to seven minutes of additional time, but both teams were unable to use it to score additional goals. The first half ended with a score of 0-1 for Senegal's advantage over Qatar.
Second round
Senegal immediately kicked off as soon as the second round match started. They immediately scored a goal three minutes after kickoff, through Famara Diedhiou. He headed Ismail Jakobs bait ball. 0-2!
The 63rd minute Qatar finally got a golden opportunity. Ali successfully fired a shot into the corner of the goal. But Mendy was able to deftly brush the ball off the field.
Qatar got another chance in the 67th minute. This time from the ball touch Mohammad. But luckily the ball was still pushed over by Mendy again.
Qatar's efforts finally paid off. In the 78th minute, Mohammed Muntari successfully headed Ismaeel Mohammad's cross from the right wing. He moved ahead of Koulibaly to head the ball and put it in the bottom right corner of the Senegalese goal. This is Qatar's first goal in the World Cup. 1-2!
But when Qatar was in high spirits, Senegal was able to score again. This time from Bamba Dieng in the 84th minute. He grabbed Ndiaye's pass from the right wing. 1-3!
Qatar does not want to give up. But unfortunately until the end they could not score additional goals. Senegal also won 1-3.
